Warsaw Wrestlers Strong At Valpo

Warsaw Sports LogoVALPARAISO – A quartet of undefeated wrestlers led Warsaw to a 4-1 showing Saturday in the Valparaiso Invitational.

Coach Justin Smith’s squad got perfect 5-0 individual marks on the day from Kyle Hatch (120), Kameron Hiles (126), Rory Nolin (195) and Andrew Brock (220).

The Tigers defeated Noblesville 43-31, Kankakee Valley 42-30, South Bend Adams 54-21 and Gary West Side 63-3. Portage topped the Tigers 42-33.

The duo of Jeremy Lee (132) and Anthony Penn (heavyweight) each went 4-1 during the tourney for Warsaw.

Warsaw improves its season mark to 7-4 overall.

The Warsaw junior varsity competed Saturday in the Concord Invitational. Riley Hogenson led the Tigers with a second-place finish at 126. Placing third were Francisco Ramirez (152), Dan Gonzales (120) and Christian Taylor (145).

Warsaw, which is 2-1 in the NLC, will host Plymouth in a conference match Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. It will be Senior Night for the Tigers.
