Area residents of Rome City planning to attend the annual A Dream of Beauty Holiday Walk on Saturday, Dec. 6 on the grounds of Gene Stratton-Porter State Historic Site, are invited to enter the Dream of Beauty Cookie Contest.

The new event will take place at 2:30 p.m. at the Carriage House.

Entrants must bring at least two dozen cookies of any kind in a disposable container, along with the recipe, to the Carriage House between 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“This is the first year we’ve had this competition and we are excited to see what the community has to offer,” said State Historic Site Manager Dave Fox. “Santa will be one of our guest judges this year. Because he eats a lot of cookies during the holiday, we decided he would make a great judge for the competition.”

Additional judges will include local celebrities to be announced the day of the contest. The top winners will receive prizes and have their recipes published on the site’s Facebook page and in their newsletter.

The contest is free to enter. Admission for the day is $3 per person and free to children age 4 and under.

Gene Stratton-Porter State Historic Site is located five minutes east of Rome City and approximately 45 minutes northwest of Fort Wayne at 1205 Pleasant Point. For more information please call the site at (260) 854-3790 or e-mail [email protected].
