A former employee of an athletic club has been arrested for forgery and theft. Both occurred while he was employed at the facility.

Ross E. Elias, 708 N. Green Road, Goshen, was arrested Tuesday, Nov. 25, on a warrant.

Syracuse Police Officer Joseph Keene states, in the affidavit of probable cause, that on Sept. 16, he spoke to a managing partner of the athletic club regarding the theft. Keene was told Elias had been providing services for clients and keeping the money for his own personal use.

The theft occurred between June and Aug. 22, when he was terminated.

According to information provided police, Elias would offer boot camps and personal training for clients, but kept the money. The amount is believed to be under $750. Police were advised Elias admitted to the accusations.

It was also reported Elias had forged the signature on a membership application. The victim stated she signed up for a camp via telephone and provided a debit card number. She was also asked to purchase a membership, which she declined.

The victim was contacted later by the club to find out why her debit card was not working to pay her membership. Stating her card had been changed, it was then discovered on July 11, Elias had forged her name on a membership application.

Elias is being held on $1,000 surety bond.
