SOUTH WHITLEY – The Whitko girls basketball team bounced back Saturday night.

The Wildcats were fine at the line in defeated visiting Churubusco by a 52-47 count.

Whitko, which dropped a tough 37-34 final at Columbia City Friday night, improves to 2-1 on the young season.

The hosts outscored the Eagles 19-4 from the free throw line in the non-conference win.

Aly Reiff led the way for Whitko with a game-high 20 points. She hit 7-8 from the line in the victory.

Brianna Cumberland also had a big night for the winners with 17 points as she was 7-11 from the charity stripe. Hanna Yohe netted six points for the Wildcats.

Whitko (2-1) plays at Huntington North on Friday. Churubusco (1-1) hosts Lakeland Christian Academy on Tuesday evening.
