Grace Hoops Teams Recognized

Grace College Sports LogoWINONA LAKE – The 2014-15 NAIA Coaches’ Preseason Top 25 Poll saw both Grace College men’s and women’s basketball teams land in the receiving votes section.

The Lady Lancers earned three national votes and have already beaten another team who was receiving votes (IU-South Bend). Grace graduated the program’s all-time leading scorer in Juaneice Jackson but return a talented squad led by Allison Kauffman.

The Crossroads League includes three women’s teams who are ranked, including No. 1 St. Francis, No. 3 Indiana Wesleyan and No. 19 Huntington.

Grace’s men’s team received eight votes – ten spots out of the Top 25. The Lancers begin their season on Friday (8 p.m.) and Saturday (8 p.m.) with the Crossroads Classic at the MOCC. Grace is hoping to notch career win No. 700 for legendary head coach Jim Kessler on Friday night 8 p.m. against Concordia (Mich.). Kessler is currently at 699 coaching victories at the helm of the Lancers.

The men’s side of the Crossroads League also had three ranked teams with No. 1 Indiana Wesleyan, No. 10 Bethel and No. 15 St. Francis. Huntington landed in the receiving votes section of the poll with Grace.
