Syracuse Public Library has several programs the week of Oct. 20-25:

Art And The Alphabet

Children draw pictures as they explore art in the stories they read during Monday’s story time. Painting, dancing, clay and music are ways to express and enhance the feeling of words. Tuesday’s story time has a craft, food and story with a special letter of the alphabet.

Caregivers of 18-month-olds to 5-year-olds are encouraged to join their children at Syracuse Public Library’s classes for an hour in the mornings. Story times are drop-in classes at 10:30 a.m. through Nov. 25.

Meet The Doctor, Season Two

Are you new to the “Doctor Who” TV series or an avid fan of the doctor adventures? Oct. 22, is the time to learn from a trivia quiz, watch an episode from the second season and make Whovian wearable paper objects while eating theme-based food.

All ages are invited to come for all or part of the evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Emma Lashley is providing the member-created trivia. Children age 12 and under must be accompanied by a parent. For information, call the library at (574) 457-3022.

Teens Talk About Characters With Disabilities

A disability is a plot point device when the character’s main obstacle is within them self. Young people are invited to have a pumpkin snack and roundtable discussion of a character from a book or movie.

The October meeting is from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m Tuesday, Oct. 21. Young adult fiction has seen a recent wave of books with a variety of characters struggling with a disability.

Teens attending the round table discussion collect a pin to wear on a bag or jacket. The group welcomes new members that are in sixth through 12.
