If you’re one of the 67 million American adults who have high blood pressure, you won’t want to miss Lose It At The Library at 5:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 27.

Dietitian Stephanie Faroh of the Kosciusko County Purdue Extension Office will discuss how a healthy diet can help lower your blood pressure. You will also learn how weight affects blood pressure and how even moderate weigh loss can improve hypertension.

Lose It At The Library is a free weekly weight loss support program that provides encouragement, education, and accountability to help participants achieve their weight loss goals. The public is invited to Monday’s blood pressure presentation.

Earlier that day, Voyager Book Club meets at 10 a.m. to discuss and share western novels.

There is still time to get one read and join us for the discussion. The library has a large selection of westerns, so stop by and check one out.

Got a new recipe you’ve been dying to try?

Prepare it and try it out at Revolving Recipe Round-Up at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 28. Everyone will be bringing a new dish they have never made before for all to sample and share. Be sure to bring along the recipe to trade with others. The library provides the table service and free coffee and bottled water. So join us for some food, fun, and fellowship.

The North Webster Hiking Club will be hiking the Salamonie River State Forest in Huntington County on Saturday, Nov. 1. The group will meet in the library parking lot at 8 a.m. and travel by carpool with everyone chipping in to cover gas costs.

We will stop for lunch on the way home, so bring along some lunch money. First time hikers must sign a liability waiver and emergency medical form.

Mark your calendars for the November Military Program Series at 5:30 p.m. Thursdays beginning Nov. 6 with MIA In Vietnam presented by Wendy Fairchild, whose father was listed as missing in action during the Vietnam War.

Then on Nov. 13 former Tomb Guard Ron Miller, assisted by Stuart Smith, will present a program on Guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery.

The series will conclude on Nov. 20 as Bob Myers explains the Honor Guard Flight Program that flies World War II veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit the World War II Memorial. You won’t want to miss these informative programs that honor our nation’s military.

The kids haven’t been left out next week. Tuesdays After School Crafts and Stories for grades K-3 is at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21 with Preschool Story Time at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Kids, ages 4-8, can have fun playing Storybook Bingo later that day at 5:30 p.m., with lots of chances to win prizes.
