Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
2:20 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, North East Wawasee Drive, north of East CR 1250N, Syracuse. Driver: Steven J. Ratliff, 20, 12373 N 300E, Syracuse. Failure of a rear axle caused the vehicle to slide while negotiating a curve on a wet road. The vehicle went off the road and rolled over. Damage up to $5,000.
1:38 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, South CR 450W, south of West Union Street, Claypool. Driver:Aaron S. Heller, 18, South CR 1400E, Akron. Swerved to miss a deer, vehicle went off the road and came to rest on its side. Damage estimated up to $10,000.
6:11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, West Old Road 30, east of North CR 800W. Driver: Andrew S. Riley, 40, North Park Avenue, Warsaw. Riley crested a hill in his vehicle, observed an accident swerved to miss the first accident sliding into a vehicle parked along the road registered to B & B Transport, East Second Street, Bremen. Damage up to $10,000.
6:10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, West Old Road 30, east of North CR 800W. Drivers: Corey J. Smith, 31, East Center Street, Bourbon and Guillermo Martinez-Ramos, 27, West Old Road 30, Warsaw. Smith started to pass a semitrailer, which was turning right onto CR 800W, at the same time Martinez-Ramos’ vehicle came over the hill, causing the vehicles to collide. Damage up to $25,000.
Milford Police
6:32 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, SR 15 and Emeline Street, Milford. Driver: Larry L. Hilliard, 62, Maye Street, Warsaw. Hillard was northbound when a second vehicle turned left, hitting the back of his vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle, a Hispanic female, stopped, told him she did not speak English and took off. Damage up to $5,000.
Warsaw Police
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
7:25 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14. Fisher Avenue and Boydston Street. Drivers: Nicole M. Blocher, 19, East Wooster Road, Pierceton and Whitney R. Roach, 25, Chestnut Avenue, Winona Lake. Blocher’s vehicle hit the back of the Roach vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
