Officers with Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, Warsaw Police Department and Indiana State Police responded to CR 100 East and Wellington Drive, Warsaw, today after police discovered a mobile meth lab.

According to 1st Sgt. Chad Hill, public information officer with Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, at 1:41 p.m. officers discovered a white SUV that was stopped in the area of Wellington Drive. Due to suspicious activity, an off-duty officer investigated the vehicle where it was initially stated a mobile meth lab was discovered.

According to information from Warsaw Police Department, several methamphetamine manufacturing items were found in the vehicle, including HCL generators and precursors to the manufacture of methamphetime, which were removed by the clandestine lab teams of Winona Lake Police Department, Warsaw Police Department and Indiana State Police. The white GMC SUV was later reported as stolen, and is currently under investigation.

Hill reports two suspects fled from the vehicle on foot, one fleeing south and one north initially. Hill stated the northbound suspect was reportedly wearing a brown shirt and the southbound suspect was spotted in a black hoodie with blue jeans.

Officers with WPD, ISP and KCSD were dispatched to the scene and canine units with WPD and ISP were brought in to track the suspects. Hill reports ISP tracked the northbound suspect with WPD tracking the southbound suspect.

At 2:59 p.m. KCSD Officer Shane Bucher spotted a male in a orange-brown shirt believed to be the northbound suspect from the vehicle in the area of Chapman Lake Drive near CR 450N. According to Hill, though the northbound suspect is believed to be apprehended, the identity of the suspect has not been released at this time.

Hill noted the southbound suspect, who was tracked by Warsaw Police Department, has not been captured at this time. The southbound suspect was tracked to the area of CR 300S.
