Indian Springs Middle School took home the Annual Northeast Lakes Middle School Conference 2014 Spell Bowl Award Thursday evening.

Students from six area middle schools participated in the spell bowl at Edgewood Middle School, Warsaw, on Thursday evening.

The spelling competition consisted of eight total rounds with nine words in each round. Each school, Crestview, Edgewood, Indian Springs, Lakeview, Lincoln and Milford, had one student participate in each round.

The evening ended with Indian Springs winning with 51 words spelled correctly.

Coming in second was Edgewood with a score of 37, followed by Lincoln with 30 points. Milford came in fourth place with a score of 27 points. Crestview and Lakeview tied with 25 points.

Two girls were recognized for having spelled all words correctly in round eight. Edgewood student, Lora Kuhaneck and Indian Springs student Leah Bechtold, each received a blue ribbon for their perfect round.
