Jan Alynn BristowJan Alynn Bristow, 71, of rural South Whitley, died Tuesday evening, Sept. 30, 2014 at his home after a short illness.

He was born April 28, 1943, in Detroit, Mich. to James M. and Dorothy G. (Terman) Bristow. In 1946 his family moved to South Whitley and in 1959 to Urbana. He graduated from Urbana High School.

In 1961 he moved to Fort Wayne. He served in the Indiana Air Force Air Guard from 1964 until 1973. He was employed at International Harvester for several years and retired from Manchester Tool and Die in 2007.

Surviving relatives include three children: Phillip (Erin) Bristow, Indianapolis, Leigh (Calvin) McCormick, Fort Benning Ga. and Allison (Craig) Thrush of Auburn; six grandchildren; and a sister, Jana Shellman, Fort Wayne.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley. The burial will be in Nolt Cemetery. The visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
