North Webster Sweeps Elementary XC Races

SYRACUSE – Friday marked the second annual Wawasee Elementary Cross Country championships. Runners from the three elementary schools practiced for a month in preparation for a one-mile race at Wawasee Middle School. A total of 84 kids raced in the third through fifth grades.

The event was divided into two races. The girls the top-five finishers were Courtney Cox at 7:06 from North Webster; Caitlyn Cox at 7:17 from North Webster; Ryleigh Cole at 7:33 from Syracuse; Alexis Misher at 7:53 from Syracuse; and Cammy Kryder at 7:58 from Webster.  For the team title, the first five runners from each school scored. North Webster won with 23 points, followed by Syracuse with 44 and Milford with 76.

On the boys side, it was a very close and exciting race. Camden Powell from Syracuse came away with the win in a time of 6:35, followed closely by Landen Alexander from North Webster at 6:36, Grant Brooks of Milford at 6:41, Grand Likens of North Webster at 6:43, and Ty Brooks of Milford at 6:54. North Webster claimed the title with 28 points, followed by Syracuse with 46 points and Milford with 54 points.
