WARSAW – It was home sweet home on Saturday for the Warsaw volleyball team.

The hosts definitely had the most as the Tigers rolled to the championship of their own invitational.

Coach Mike Howard’s team continued its impressive season with four more wins to take the tourney title.

Warsaw defeated Prairie Heights 25-9, 25-13, Lafayette Jeff 25-20, 25-21 and Muncie Burris 25-22, 25-20.

The Tigers then topped Southwood 25-19, 25-13 in the championship match.

Senior Katie Voelz continued to provide the power on offense for the Tigers. The standout delivered 34 kills on the day to go with 28 digs.

Celia Heckert powered down 23 kills and Caroline Mayer finished with 19 for the champions.

Cassie Hoag racked up 84 assists and led the serving parade with eight aces.

Jordyn Lindeman had four aces and led the Tigers with nine blocks. Courtney Steffensmeier had eight blocks for Warsaw.

Libero Peyton Adamiec led the defense on the day with a total of 47 digs.

Warsaw improves to 21-4 on the season. The Tigers have won 13 of their last 14 matches after a 2-2 showing in the power-packed Mishawaka Invitational back on Aug. 30.

The Tigers are a perfect 5-0 in Northern Lakes Conference play. Warsaw will host NLC foe NorthWood Thursday night with a chance to clinch at least a share of the league championship.

Warsaw, which went 7-0 to win the NLC title two seasons ago, will host Concord Oct. 9 in its final NLC match.
