Lakeland Christian Academy started its seventh annual food drive for Combined Community Services today.

Be on the lookout on your property for an empty paper Owen’s grocery bag with a bright pink flyer on it. On Monday, Sept. 29, LCA students will distribute 5,000 grocery bags in Winona Lake and Warsaw in hopes that the homeowner will then fill the bag up with non-perishable groceries for the CCS pantry.

Students will then collect the filled bags on Wednesday, Oct. 1, with the help from volunteers and trucks from local furniture stores. Homeowners are encouraged to leave the full bags at the end of their driveway on Wednesday for pick up.

This food drive is organized by LCA’s Guidance Counselor and teacher Carmen Flores.  She is hoping to collect even more than the 11,000 pounds collected last year. For more information contact Flores at (574) 267-7265.
