Southwood Surges Past Vikings
WABASH – A big second half scoring surge lifted Southwood past Tippecanoe Valley Friday night.
The hosts tallied 33 second-half points in outscoring the Vikings 58-29 in Three Rivers Conference action.
Valley drops to 0-4 overall for the first time in school history. The Vikings are 0-2 in league play.
Southwood, which improves to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the TRC, led just 25-23 at halftime.
The hosts outscored the Vikings 33-6 in the second half.
Quarterback Alec Craig was 6-17 passing for 120 yards and had 14 rushes for 59 yards for the Vikings.
Garrett Bell rushed for 44 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns for Valley. Aric Shafer and Dylan Hoffman each had one touchdown for the Vikings.
Southwood, which lost 7-0 at Whitko last week, got huge games from Robbie Cole and Nathan Hollars. Quarterback Cole was 15-25 passing for 203 yards and two touchdowns and also had nine carries for 92 yards and two more scores. Hollars had 31 carries for 182 yards and found the end zone three times.
The game saw the two teams combine for 19 penalties for almost 200 yards.
Valley will host Northfield (3-1, 1-1) next Friday night in TRC action.
