Goodwill Industries of Michiana, Inc. in partnership with the Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic will present a Free Legal Clinic at the Warsaw Community Career Center on Thursday, Sept. 18 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. This clinic is open to the public and is designed to help those wishing to expunge or seal an adult criminal record.
In addition to the public presentation, those interested in seeking specific assistance may call ahead to schedule an Intake Session. This appointment would allow an individual time to speak with an attorney in person about his or her specific legal concern. Those scheduling an intake session should bring any relevant documents regarding their legal issue.
The Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic provides free legal advice and representation for many areas of civil law, with the exception of criminal and divorce cases. They partner with a variety of service providers to present preventative legal education workshops designed to empower individuals and improve lives.
Career Center Manager, Kelly Friend, appreciates the NC Legal Clinic partnership and the opportunities it offers. “Our goal is to help individuals in this and surrounding communities find stability through employment,” Friend says. “But, many times when there is a criminal history, it becomes very difficult to be considered for a good job. We’re thrilled to offer this clinic in partnership with the NC Legal Clinic so that those who can benefit from their assistance are able to move their lives forward in a positive direction.”
This event is sponsored by Goodwill’s Workforce Development Services and is one of many outreach activities that help change lives in our community.
