WARSAW – The Warsaw boys soccer team collected its second impressive win of the young season Saturday.

The host Tigers tallied the final two goals of the game to edge past Penn 2-1 in non-conference play at WCHS.

Warsaw, ranked No. 10 in Class 2-A, improves to 2-0-2 on the season. Coach Scott Bauer’s team, which lost in the semi state a year ago, has now beaten Class 1-A power Argos and the Kingsmen, who were honorable mention in the latest Class 2-A statewide poll.

The contest Saturday was scoreless through the opening half. The Kingsmen took a 1-0 lead in the final half.

The host Tigers tied the match 1-1 as Sam Allbritten scored off a penalty kick. Warsaw then got the game winner from Erik Tiahuet, off an assist by Allbritten.

Penn won the junior varsity contest by a 1-0 final. The Warsaw JV is now 3-1-1 on the season.

Warsaw, 2-0-2 overall and 0-0-1 in the Northern Lakes Conference, will host Concord for a conference match Wednesday night. The JV game begins at 5:45 p.m. with the varsity tilt to follow.
