Kirkham Paces Winning Wildcats

Whitko-Icon-130x130WINONA LAKE – The Whitko boys soccer team collected its first win of the young season Saturday.

Daniel Kirkham had a goal and an assist to pace the Wildcats to a 3-2 victory over host Lakeland Christian Academy.

Whitko, now 1-1, took a 2-1 halftime lead on goals by Kirkham and Keegan Hicks.

The Wildcats added a second-half score on a goal by Tyler Herendeen, assisted by Kirkham. Johannes Bingham also had an assist for the winners.

Keeper Jacob Helton registered 13 saves in goal for Whiko.

Weston Clemens had a big game for the host Cougars. Clemens tallied both of the LCA goals.

LCA keeper Elijah Raymond came up with 21 saves in the contest.

Whitko (1-1) hosts Plymouth Monday. LCA (0-1) hosts NorthWood Tuesday evening.
