David A Barrett, 70, of rural Silver Lake, Ind., passed away at 7:05 p.m., Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.

He was born Sept. 3, 1943, in Kosciusko County, Ind., to Herschel Dinkledein and Inez Early. After Herschel’s death David was adopted and raised by Jewith Barrett.

David was a 1962 graduate of Claypool High School. He was a US Army veteran. He married Phyllis Flitcraft on July 7, 1967, in Miami County, Ind. David enjoyed flowers, watching the birds and squirrels, sightseeing, festivals, and setting up for flea markets. He retired from Diehl Machines in Wabash, Ind. 

He is survived by his wife; two sisters: Dorothy (Delmar) Poe, Claypool, Ind.; and Wanda Paris, Indianapolis, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and one sister.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Home – Roann, 335 S. Chippewa Rd., Roann. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at the funeral home, with Pastor Wayne Balmer officiating. Burial will be in South Pleasant Cemetery, Silver Lake.
