Wawasee logoNORTH MANCHESTER – Wawasee continues to build a solid résumé against non-conference opponents as the Lady Warriors prep for the Northern Lakes Conference season next week. Monday night, a 190 against host Manchester’s 215 at Sycamore Golf Course did the trick.

Mikala Mawhorter continued her hot start to the season with a 44 to lead the Lady Warriors. Elizabeth Jackson posted a 48 and Wawasee had three 49s to choose from between Courtney McDaniel, Aubrey Schmeltz and Kylee Rostochak.

Claire Barnett led all golfers with a 41 to pace the Lady Squires, but Lydia Little’s 53 was the next best score for Manchester, everyone else in the 60s or worse.

“We had five scores in the 40s, which is good,” began Wawasee head coach Steve Coverstone, whose club moves to 6-0. “But we still had too many blow up holes, especially early and late in the round.”

Wawasee will host two more non-conference foes in Mishawaka Marian and West Noble Tuesday at Maxwelton.
