Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating the shooting of a fawn which occurred last Saturday at approximately 3:50 p.m. in Marshall County. The incident occurred in the 15000 block of Fir Road, just north of 15B Road in the Bourbon area.

Officers are searching for the operator of a small, yellow, hatchback compact car similar to a Ford Focus or Dodge Caliber (pictured above). The operator of the vehicle is described as a white male, possibly bald, who was wearing a sleeveless shirt and blue jeans. He was accompanied by a white female.

A passing motorist observed the male subject exit the vehicle and shoot into the adjacent field several times with what appeared to be a shotgun. The female was also seen exiting the vehicle. After shooting into the field the subject left the area and did not make any attempt to recover what he had just shot.

Officers responded to the scene and located a small fawn deer with several bullet holes in it consistent with a shotgun wound.

Anyone with information that may assist officers in this investigation are encouraged to call the IDNR (Turn In A Poacher) TIP line at 1-800-TIP-IDNR. You may remain anonymous by calling this number.

Indiana Conservation Officers want to express that the individual sought in this case is a person of interest only at this time and is presumed innocent of any criminal acts until proven guilty in a court of law.
