Emergency personnel responded to a mobile home fire located at Lot 17, 3101 Wooster Road in Merrywood Mobile Home Park at approximately 12:25 p.m. today.

According to Warsaw Fire Department Fire Chief Mike Brubaker, the fire was contained to one room of the home and, due to the actions of a neighbor, resulted in minimal damages.

According to Brubaker, a neighbor noticed flames and smoke from a window and placed a hose into the window until fire fighters could arrive on scene.

“Due to a neighbor thinking quickly, they saved a lot of their belongings,” explained Brubaker.

Though the home is not a loss, the family of four residing in the mobile home will be displaced for a few days. The fire was deemed accidental and is believed to be caused by smoking. No one was at home at the time of the fire and no injuries were cause by the flames.

Warsaw Fire Department, Warsaw Police Department and Multi-Township EMS were called to the scene.
