The North Webster Community Public Library is always a lively place, but it will be even more so on Wednesday, July 2 when expert animal handler Mark Kohlhorst presents his Mark’s Ark Live Animal Show at 10:30 a.m. He will bring an assortment of live animals for the kids to see and touch while he teaches about different kind of animals with fun and humor.

Well, supervised by Kohlhorst, the animals are gentle and people-friendly. It’s a show that both young and old alike will enjoy, and all ages are welcomed. The show takes place in the North Webster Community Center Banquet Hall. If your child is enrolled in the Summer Reading Program, be sure they bring their Reading Passports to get stamped for extra credit toward prizes.

The adult Make and Take Card Class on Thursday, July 3, at 10:00 is always a pretty lively event as well. Participants learn how to create their own original greeting cards amidst lots of friendly conversation and laughs while learning together. The Make and Take Card class is held the first Thursday of each month. Advance registration is needed along with a $7.00 class fee. You can sign up at the front desk, call 574-834-7122, or e-mail [email protected].

Are you looking for some good books to read, but don’t know where to look or have time to browse? The circulation staff can help you with a new free Reader Advisory Service called “Your Next Three Books.” Our staff will select books for you based on your preferences. When you are done reading those books, bring them back to the library, and we will have three more waiting for you.

To get started, just stop by the front desk and fill out a short questionnaire that lets us know the kind of books you prefer. It’s an easy and quick way to discover new books and authors you may not have discovered on your own.

Our Adult Services and Local History and Genealogy Director Beth Smith will be a featured speaker at the Kosciusko County Women’s Connection on Thursday, July 10, at 9:30 at The Hub in Winona Lake. She will give a presentation on the history of Thaddeus Kosciuszko in the Revolutionary War. To attend, call 574-527-3295 by June 26.

The library will be closed on July 4 and 5 to commemorate Independence Day.  Normal hours will resume on Monday, July 7.
