A collision between a mo-ped and a mini van sent a female victim to the hospital Friday evening, June 6. It happened at Market and Colfax streets at about 8 p.m.

Warsaw Police investigated the accident and found that Mitchell E. Yoder, 60, of Warsaw, was northbound on Colfax Street coming from the bowling alley. Yoder and two witnesses said the van did stop at the stop sign, but failed to see 17-year-old Rachel Blankenship riding her mo-ped westbound on Market Street.

Yoder pulled into the intersection and struck the mo-ped, ejecting Blankenship from the mo-ped. The teenager was taken by ambulance to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne for treatment. Her injuries were unknown.

While conducting the investigation, Warsaw Police detected an odor of alcohol from Yoder. Toxicology results are pending but, according to the accident report, Yoder’s blood alcohol content registered .12 percent on a portable breathylzer.
