Warsaw Golfers Split In NLC Play

images-7MIDDLEBURY – The Warsaw boys golf team put the wraps on the conference regular season Thursday evening.

The Tigers shot a 164 to go 1-1 in a Northern Lakes Conference triangular played out at Meadow Valley.

Will Erekson shot a 35 to earn medalist honors as host Northridge fired a 160. Warsaw came in at 164 and NorthWood at 166 in the final league event heading into the conference tournament Saturday.

Northridge improves to 14-1 overall on the season and finishes at a perfect 7-0 in NLC head-to-head action. Warsaw is now 6-3 overall and 5-2 in league play and the Panthers sit at 12-3 overall and 4-3 in the NLC.

Jonny Hollar and Will Petro paced coach Ben Barkey’s Tigers Thursday night. Each shot a 40 for Warsaw.

Reid Cameron had a 44 and Michael Jensen shot a 45 for the Tigers. Brandon Eckert finished with a 50.

Alec Dutkowski led NorthWood with a 39.

In other NLC action Thursday, Wawasee shot 162 to defeat Concord (164) and Elkhart Memorial (169) at Bent Oak in Elkhart. Plymouth topped Goshen 158-172 in action at Maplecrest in Goshen.

Northridge took the regular-season conference title at 7-0. Warsaw was second at 5-2, followed by Wawasee (4-3), NorthWood (4-3), Concord (2-5), Elkhart Memorial (3-5), Plymouth (1-6) and Goshen (0-7).

The NLC Tournament will take place on Saturday at Christiana Creek Country Club in Elkhart.

The Warsaw junior varsity team also went 1-1 Thursday. Northridge shot 174 with the Tigers at 179 and NorthWood at 184.

Andrew Gauger led Warsaw with a 43. Josh Ahlersmeyer shot a 44 and Tim Rata and Andrew Sullivan each had a 46. Luke Johnson shot a 48 for the JV Tigers.

The Warsaw JV team is 9-1 overall and finishes 6-1 in the NLC.
