CULVER – It was a tough weekend for the Tippecanoe Valley baseball team.
The Vikings dropped a pair of one-run decisions in the Culver Academy Tournament Saturday.
Mooresville edged the Vikings 3-2 in game one despite managing just two hits in the contest.
Mooresville scored a pair of runs in the first inning and added the winner in the final frame in the seventh.
Gavin Bussard had a hit and scored both runs to lead the Vikings. Jarred Littlejohn doubled and Isaac Shewman had an RBI. Four Valley pitchers combined on the two-hitter.
Valley then lost 7-6 to host CMA in eight innings in their second game of the day.
Bussard led the offense with two hits and two RBI for the Vikings. Tanner Andres, Alec Craig, Eric Hammer and Brandon Webster each also had a pair of hits for Valley.
The Vikings dropped a tough 2-1 final Friday at Southwood in Three Rivers Conference play.
Andrews had three hits and an RBI Friday as the Vikings dropped to 1-4 in conference play. Bussard had two hits, including a double. Hammer took the pitching loss, only allowing six hits.
Valley, now 12-11 on the season, will host Rochester Monday at 5 p.m. The Vikings then play at Caston Tuesday and host Wabash on Wednesday.
