South Bend Company Recalls 200 Employees
According to Inside INdiana Business, business at AM General in South Bend is picking up. In January, the manufacturer announced 200 workers would be recalled at another St. Joseph County operation to produce MV-1. Last week, AM General detailed a Canadian distribution deal for the handicapped-accessible vehicle.
According to AM General Spokesman Jeff Adams, “I can confirm that AM General will soon begin recalling employees back to work at its military assembly plant in anticipation of a U.S. Government contract.
“This action could result in as many as 200 employees being recalled if the contract is executed as anticipated and is consistent with our prior communications that as we secure additional HMMWV orders we would adjust production accordingly.”
