SILVER LAKE, Ind. – Indiana Conservation Officers would like to announce that the 2014 C.O. Mollenhour Conservation Camp, located on McClure Lake, is openly accepting campers for this year’s camp.

Boys week is July 13-18 while the girls week is from July 25-30. The cost of the camp is $200 per camper.

Prospective campers must visit the camp website to register for the camp. The camp website is http://www.conservationcamp.org/. Campers will be closely supervised by Indiana Conservation Officers as well as Indiana Department of Natural Resources Volunteer Instructors and trained lifeguards for the water sports and swimming activities the camp offers.

Campers will become certified in hunter education and boater education and will receive instruction and training in additional disciplines such as but not limited to; firearms safety, camping safety, water safety, wildlife identification, tree stand safety and wildlife management.

Campers will be taught to respect and protect our natural resources through wise use principles taught to them during camp. Numerous guest speakers will be brought in each week to further educate the campers on wildlife and environmental related topics of concern.

Campers in the past have been taken bass fishing on McClure Lake, learned about Hawks and Owls with live birds being brought in to view, and learned to throw tomahawks competitively and shoot clay pigeons to demonstrate their shotgun prowess and skills.

Select campers receive trophies for some of their accomplishments but all campers are winners as they make lifelong friendships with fellow campers and get to learn and experience conservation minded principles and theories that they can teach to friends and relatives and gain self confidence in themselves through the knowledge they have gained.

Space is limited so campers are encouraged to visit the website and get your spot reserved today. Indiana Conservation Officers are excited for the opportunity to instruct and interact with campers in a fun, safe, setting where the emphasis is on respecting others and our environment and learning what we all can do to protect and conserve our cherished natural resources.
