BOURBON – There was no shortage of great pitching Monday night between Triton and New Prairie.
Triton ace Mallorie Jennings and New Prairie standout Brandee Pietrzaek went toe-to-toe in the circle in a key Northern State Conference softball tussle.
The visiting Cougars plated a pair of runs in the final inning to edge the Trojans 2-1.
Jennings fired a three-hitter and allowed no earned runs in taking the loss. She fanned five and walked two.
Jennings also was the offense for the hosts, going 3-3 with a double.
Triton took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning on a steal of home.
Pietrzak allowed just four hits in her gem. She walked none and struck out 11 in garnering the win.
Abby Warner had two hits to lead the winning Cougars.
