AKRON – The Tippecanoe Valley baseball team posted two wins to claim the championship of its own tournament Saturday.
The Vikings topped rival Rochester 5-3 in the title game.
Valley plated four runs in the first frame en route to the championship.
Isaac Shewman had a pair of doubles to pace the offense in the title game win.
Tanner Andrews and Tommy Alexander each drove in two runs for Valley in the championship contest.
Valley opened tourney play by beating Knox 16-6. The Vikings piled up 15 hits in the win.
Shewman slugged a home run and drove in four runs in the first game.
Drake Hyden had three hits and three RBI and Andrews and Alexander each had two hits and three RBI in the win.
Valley, now 9-6 on the season, plays at conference foe Whitko today at 5 p.m. The Vikings then play at Bethany Christian Tuesday and host league opponent SouthWood on Wednesday.
