WARSAW – Visiting Valparaiso finished strong to sweep a prep baseball twin bill Saturday from Warsaw.
The Vikings won the opener by a 6-2 final by scoring five runs in the final two innings.
Caleb Heckaman and Sterling Hay each had two hits to lead the offense for Warsaw.
James Brandes took the pitching loss for the Tigers.
The Vikings scored six runs in the final two frames of the nightcap to win 12-9.
Brandon Shipp had three hits for the Tigers in game two.
Tyler LaFollette had two hits and two RBI for Warsaw, as did Peter Shepherd. Brandes had three RBI and Hay took the pitching loss.
Warsaw, now 8-6 overall, will play at league foe Elkhart Memorial Monday at 5 p.m. The Tigers are 5-1 in Northern Lakes Conference action.
The Warsw junior varsity team split with Valparaiso Saturday at home.
Valparaiso won the opener by a 6-2 count. Marcello Rodriguez led Warsaw with two hits. Henry Howard took the pitching loss.
Warsaw won the second game 11-6. Winning pitcher Justin Kerschner had two hits, including a homer. Isaac Lennon also had two hits.
The Warsaw JV team, which is 6-7 overall and 2-4 in the NLC, also plays at Elkhart Memorial Monday.
