Grace Annabelle Mayer
Grace Annabelle Mayer, 81, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away Friday, April 25, 2014, in Warsaw Meadows Care Center, Warsaw, Ind.
Grace was born and raised in Athens County in southeast Ohio. After marrying Bob Mayer on Dec. 16, 1953, they resided in seven different states but have lived in Warsaw for nearly 35 years.
Grace, loving wife of Robert E. Mayer, was married to Bob for just over 60 years. Grace worked at the Warsaw YMCA for 15 years prior to retiring over 3 years ago. She played bridge several times each week with different groups in Warsaw and Plymouth, was an avid cook and baker, often baking over 100 dozen of many kinds of Christmas cookies each year. Other activities she enjoyed include crocheting, sewing, quilting, crafts, gardening, walking, traveling (they visited Spain, the Bahamas, took six Caribbean and one Alaskan cruise, as well as taking many driving trips throughout the USA) and she was an avid reader.
Grace is survived by daughters: Linda G. (Robert) Maher, Athens, Ohio; and Vicki D. (Joel) Casarrubias, Round Lake, Ill.; eight grandchildren: Matthew, Rory and Marilyn Maher; Rachel Domingo, Marc (Kyle Annen), Lisa (Paul Brockelhurst), Amy (Matt) Hans and Tracy (Jordan) King; and four great-grandchildren; and a brother: Paul (Karen) Pugh, Dowagiac, Mich.
She was preceded in death by her parents: John W. Pugh and Mabel (Lonas) Pugh; and her older sister: Marjorie Watson.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 3, Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 210 S. High Street, Warsaw. A similar visitation will be conducted in her hometown of Athens at a time and place which will be announced at a later date. There will be no services.
