Authorities have arrested a Winona Lake man on a rape charge following a two-week investigation.

Michael J. Elliott, 50, was arrested this afternoon by Warsaw Police on charges that he forced sex acts on a 17-year-old family friend at her Warsaw home. The girl went to Kosciusko Community Hospital on April 6 reporting she was raped.

According to investigators, in the early morning hours of April 6, Elliott forced himself on the victim. As a result, he has been charged with Class B felony rape and Class D felony sexual battery. He is being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

Warsaw Police were assisted in the investigation by Winona Lake Police and the Kosciusko County Prosecuting Attorney’s office.
