images copyThe Triton softball team started fast Monday in blasting Knox in a Northern State Conference contest.

The host Trojans played nine runs in the first three innings and went on to post a 15-5 rout in six innings in the league game.

Krystal Sellers had a huge offensive night for the winners. Sellers had four hits, including a home run and two doubles, and drove in four runs for the Trojans.

Mallorie Jennings did it with the pitch and at the plate for Triton. The standout hurler got the win in the circle, only allowing one earned run while striking out six and walking none in six innings. Jennings also had four hits, including a double and a triple.

Lexee Lemler had three hits and Halie Zimmerman two for the Trojans.

Tennis Team Beats Zebras

The Triton girls tennis team notched three wins before the rain stopped play versus Rochester Monday.

The Trojans got wins from Kylie Mason at No. 3 singles and its two doubles teams. Mason won 6-0, 6-1 for Triton.

Triton also won at No. 1 doubles as Holly Stogsdill and Carrie Slabaugh posted a 6-0, 6-0 win. The No. 2 doubles team of Cassie Irons and Michal Scherer-Berry prevailed 6-3, 6-0.

Triton’s Kaelyn Mason was leading her match at No. 1 singles 6-2, 5-0 when play was stopped.  Shayla May was ahead 6-3, 1-2 at No. 2 singles for the Trojans when action was halted by the rain.

Triton improves to 3-1 on the season.
