WARSAW – Warsaw senior Anthony Hendrickson did not make headlines throughout his football career, however his performance on the offensive line certainly created them.
Hendrickson was one of the key figures in Warsaw’s record-setting ground attack the past two seasons, and the two-sport standout announced his intention to attend Trine University and play football for the Thunder.
Hendrickson, a two-year varsity letterman, was also chosen as All-Northern Lakes Conference Football Honorable Mention team this past year where he helped lead the Tigers to a 7-4 record and conference runner-up finish.
Not only has Hendrickson made his impact on the football field for the Tigers, the senior was also a standout on the mat where he wrestled two seasons, qualifying for semi state in the 195-pound division in his senior season. Hendrickson, who was named All-State Academic Honorable Mention this past wrestling season, had to miss his junior wrestling campaign after undergoing shoulder surgery. Hendrickson demonstrated his strength in the upper weights as a sophomore where he qualified for the Rochester Regional.
While Hendrickson managed the tough work on the field and mats, he managed the work in the classroom exceptionally well, earning an impressive 9.9 Grade-Point-Average on a 12-point scale.
Hendrickson also made a strong impact in the community as well, participating with Habitat for Humanity, Nickels for Nic (campaign raising funds for an injured athlete), and the YMCA Family Day Fundraiser.
In addition to playing football for coach Matt Land and the Thunder at Trine, Hendickson will major in biomechanical engineering with hopes of returning to the Warsaw community after graduation.
