Eagles Soar Past Tigers

images-7COLUMBIA CITY – A strong start did not translate into a fine finish for the Warsaw baseball team Friday.

The Tigers saw an early 3-0 lead evaporate into a 13-3 loss in six innings to host Columbia City.

Warsaw plated a run in each of the first three frames to take a 3-0 lead.

The Eagles scored three times in the third inning to tie the contest. The hosts then scored one run in the fourth, six in the fifth and three in the sixth to end the contest.

Columbia City racked up 14 hits in the non-conference victory.

Ethyn Bradley and Caleb Moneyheffer each had two hits to lead the offense for Warsaw.

Tyler LaFollette took the pitching loss for the Tigers.

The Warsaw junior varsity team topped the Eagles 15-0. Zach Witt earned the pitching win for the Tigers, who are now 2-1.

Warsaw (2-2) hosts Wawasee Monday in its Northern Lakes Conference opener at 5 p.m.
