You know it’s spring when the snowbirds return home from their southern roosts.

If you’ve been wintering in a warmer clime and have come home for the summer, be sure to stop by the North Webster Public Library and find out all that’s new since you’ve been gone.

We’ve expanded our collection with many new books and movies. We’ve added a new A-to-Z database that enables free e-mail marketing, job search, mailing lists and sales leads, people look-up, and business profiles. Plus we’ve developed several new programs this past winter including a weekly weight loss support program, a support group for those caring for an elderly loved one, and a hiking club.

Of course, we continue to offer our popular READ and Voyager book clubs, Writer’s Corner, Revolving Recipe Round-Up, and Make and Take Card Class, along with other special events and programs planned for each month.  Information on programs and events can be found on our website at www.nweb.in.us, our Facebook page, by calling 574-834-7122, or e-mailing [email protected].

Writer’s Corner
Next week starts off with Writer’s Corner at 10 a.m. Monday, April 21. This group of people, who like to write, or want to learn how, meets the third Monday each month. On Monday, they will be sharing essays they’ve written about how their ancestors came to America.

Later that day at 5:30 p.m. R.E.A.D. Book Club will discuss Eli Lilly: A Life 1885-1977 by James Madison. Also at 5:30 p.m. Lose It @ The Library, our free weight loss support group, will meet for their weekly weigh-in and walk the corridors of the North Webster Community Building.

The group meets every Monday with weigh-in and walking the first and third Mondays and weigh-in followed by an informative program on the second and fourth Mondays.  Additional programs are planned during those months with five Mondays.

On Tuesday, April 22, Revolving Recipe Round-Up gets together at 6 p.m. to share ham dishes they’ve each made and swap recipes and, as a special treat, The Cake Lady Peggy Roulo will demonstrate cupcake decorating that evening as well. This group of foodies meets the fourth Tuesday each month with each month focusing on a certain type of food.  Everyone brings a dish they’ve made along with its recipe. The library provides the table service and free coffee and water.

Free popcorn will be served at Family Movie Time at 5 p.m. Thursday, April 24, when the library shows a newly-released swashbuckling animated Disney adventure about a pirate fairy who is fascinated with pixie dust. The moved is rated G and runs 78 minutes. Feel free to bring your own beverages to enjoy along with the popcorn.

Although you need a library card to borrow materials, you don’t need a library card to use our facility or attend programs. We also honor library cards from any library within the state-wide Indiana Evergreen Library System.

A North Webster Community Public Library card is free to any resident of Tippecanoe Township, and many of our summer residents qualify. Stop by and sign up!
