The North Webster Community Public Library will be joining libraries across the nation next week as we celebrate the unique role libraries play in people’s lives during National Library Week, April 13-19.
The week’s commemoration will culminate with a big National Library Week Celebration at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 17. The public is invited to attend this free evening of fun, entertainment, food, and prizes held in the North Webster Community Center Banquet Hall. Headlining the event will be singer Bob Holderbaum from Battle Creek, Mich., who will entertain the audience with his versatile voice, five-string banjo, 12-string guitar, and humor. There will also be free desserts by The Cake Lady and door prizes; plus the winners of the library’s Cemetery Walk Essay Contest and Mystery Marathon will be announced. If you’ve been competing in the Mystery Marathon, be sure to attend because you must be present to claim the mystery prize. The library will close early that day at 6 p.m. so the entire staff can attend the Celebration.
The busy week starts off from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, April 14, with a Blooming Bunny Workshop where Linda McGonagle will instruct on how to make an adorable fabric “Blooming Bunny” wall décor for spring. The fabric and supplies are provided with a $9 class fee. Advanced registration is required. Sign up by the end of the day on Saturday, April 12, at the front desk, call 574-834-7122 or email [email protected].
At 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 14, dietician Wanda Cullison will give a program on nutritional supplements at Lose It @ The Library, a free weight loss support program that meets every Monday. The public is invited to attend.
The library also sponsors a support group for people caring for an elderly loved one. The Elder Care Giver Support Group will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, when Lori Stock from the Indiana Alzheimers Organization will present an informative program followed by questions, answers and sharing.
The Youth Services Department will host its monthly Teen Time for grades 6-12 at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 17, when the teens will have fun decorating votive candle holders. The candle holders and decorating supplies will be provided, and the teens get to take home what they decorate.
Don’t forget at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 12, Jeff Blair will present his program on “Walking The Lincoln Highway”. The public is invited.
