Dreams still can come true sometimes. One did for a Wawasee High School freshman.

Kelsey Turner, who has cystic fibrosis, was presented a check to Make-A-Wish in the amount of $2,300 by the Warrior Leadership Committee of WHS Thursday morning. Funds came from the March 21 Pow Wow Carnival at the high school including ticket sales, fundraisers during the carnival and donations from businesses and individuals, all to raise money for Make-A-Wish in honor of Turner’s wish.

The soft spoken and humble Turner will get to see her wish of going on a Caribbean cruise come true through Make-A-Wish.

Geoff Walmer, assistant principal at the high school, said being able to help kids with wishes like Turner is a perfect fit for the mission of the Pow Wow Carnival, which is to help a student. Turner quietly expressed her gratitude by saying “Thank you to everyone who donated and helped my wish come true.”

Donations came from businesses and organizations in the form of money or a giveaway of some type and included: Oakwood Inn, Lady’s Lions Club, CenturyLink, Brooke Pointe Inn, Lakeside Fitness, RadioShack, Pizza King, Miller’s Party Time, Lake City Bank, Shopko, WawaChic, Amazing Carpet Care, Rinker, Penguin Point, Miller’s Merry Manor, Beth’s Designs, Thwaits Chiropractic, Miche Bags, Elwood Staffing, Interra Credit Union, Wawasee Boat Company, North Pointe Cinemas, Ace Hardware, Butler Design, Milford School.
