Kurt Carlson, CEO, Bowen Center discussed the drastic changes in mental health care over the centuries.

The Bowen Center continues to provide mental health services in many Indiana counties. A new headquarters was recently built in Warsaw. The building project is almost totally finished and portions of the new building are now occupied. Bowen Center will be holding an open house in the near future.

Kosciusko Community Hospital hosted the Kosciusko Leadership Academy class session on Health Care in Kosciusko County. Kim Finch of Kosciusko Community Hospital provided an overview of health care provided by KCH. KCH has expanded by locating several offices throughout the county in order to bring medical care to the people where they live.

Students entering medical school are specializing more today than ever before.  The students entering general practice are decreasing. This has opened up the need for mid level providers, such as physicians assistants. KCH also partners with outside organizations including OrthoWorx.

Scott Siggerfoos, director of operations for Multi-Township EMS, explained the growing role the EMS provides for the area. MTEMS is involved in training, first aid classes, community education, and high school basic EMT classes. Their motto “Ready, willing and able” speaks to the level of devotion and service the EMT professionals provide.

In 2013, there were 6,361 runs made by the MTEMS. One heart is a newer program that teaches basic CPR to anyone in the county that is interested in learning how to possibly save a life, should the need occur.

The next KLA session will be held on March 11 at CTB, where agriculture in Kosciusko County will be featured.

KLA is a not for profit organization devoted to serving Kosciusko County by encouraging leaders and future leaders to dream and create a better community through white paper projects.
