Kauffman, Schaefer, Freds Among Scholar Athletes

Crossroads LogoHARTFORD CITY – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the Division II women’s basketball student-athletes that have been named 2013-2014 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

In order to be nominated by an institution’s head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.

The Crossroads League had 20 women’s basketball student-athletes that were named 2013-2014 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Bethel led the way with five, which was third most of any team in the country. Taylor followed with four, Indiana Wesleyan and Mount Vernon Nazarene had three, Grace and Spring Arbor two, and Saint Francis one. Among the list are Grace juniors Allison Kauffman and Lindsey Schaefer along with Taylor senior Kelsi Freds, a Warsaw Community High School graduate.
