The Fox TV series labeled as an American teen musical comedy-drama has become one of the most popular shows on television today. Glee is the story about William McKinley High School’s glee club and its eclectic mix of characters and personalities.

Recently, two Warsaw makeup artists got the thrill of a lifetime when they were asked to help work their magic on one of the show’s characters for a public service announcement that was shot in Fort Wayne.

Andrea Pifer, a freelance makeup artist living in Warsaw and currently the Prestige Makeup Manager at ULTA Beauty. “Lauren was very sweet, personable and had a great sense of humor! We had so much fun with her!” Pifer explained of her work with Lauren Potter.

On Glee, Potter plays the character of Becky Jackson, a cheerleader with Down Syndrome. Said Pifer, Potter was recently in Fort Wayne for a convention sponsored by the Down Syndrome Association of Northeast Indiana. She also took part in a public service announce asking people to make a pledge to end using the “R” word for people with disabilities.

Pifer, who also worked for MAC Cosmetics, was contacted by One Lucky Guitar, a brand and marketing boutique, asking her to use her makeup skills to assist Potter in preparing for the filming of the public service announcement which will soon air on PBS.

Not only did Pifer accept the invitation, she also asked Kerri Wilson, another ULTA Beauty employee, to assist her. Wilson, who did Potter’s hair for the filming, is a special needs job coach for Warsaw Community High School and works to find volunteer jobs in the community for those with disabilities and then works with those individuals for job training.

Pifer said some of Wilson’s success stories can be found at Goodwill, Maria’s House of Pancakes, Warsaw Community Church and other locations. “Lauren Potter’s character, Becky, is her and her students favorite. So the kids were so excited for her!” added Pifer.
