Warsaw Track Team Impressive Indoors

images-7MARION – The Warsaw girls track team opened its season indoors over the weekend with several impressive performances.

Coach Scott Erba’s talented team set a school record and had three first-place efforts while competing indoors Friday and Saturday.

The Tigers competed in a pair of Hoosier State Relays qualifying meets at Indiana Wesleyan University. The meets qualify individuals for the HSR State Meet, which will be held March 22 at IWU.

Jackie Ferguson set a new school record in the 60-meter hurdles to lead the Tigers. She placed second in the race with a time of 9.74.

Warsaw had a trio of winning performances over the two days. Claire Hickerson won the pole vault with a top effort of 10-0.

The 4 X 800 relay team of Brooke Rhodes, Madeline Hooks, Hannah Dawson and Allison Miller placed first in a time of 10:17.82.

The Distance Medley Relay team of Claire Kehler, Rhodes, Aletheia Burritt and Miller also finished first in a time of 13:41.34.

The 4 X 200 relay team of Mariah Harter, Sam Alexander, Audrey Rich and Ann Harvuot placed second in a time of 1:49.62. The foursome of Nicole Eckert, Haley Peterson, Ferguson and Tennie Worrell were second in the 4 X 400 relay event with a time of 4:18.29.

Warsaw is scheduled to compete in an indoors meet Saturday at Trine University before taking part in the HSR Indoor State Meet back at IWU on March 22.

The Tigers are slated to open their outdoor season by hosting Penn, South Bend Washington and Huntington North on March 26.
