WARSAW – Warsaw senior third baseman Caleb Heckaman has signed a Letter of Intent to continue his baseball career and education at Ancilla College in the fall.

A three-sport athlete through his junior year, Heckaman has not only made an impact for Tiger Athletics on the fields and mats at WCHS, he has been remarkable in the classroom as well.

A hard-nosed linebacker and three-year letterman for the WCHS football program, Heckaman managed the hot corner for the Tigers’ baseball squad last season. He also excelled in the classroom and has earned a 9.04 grade-point-average (B+ on 12-point scale) while enrolled in multiple honors courses over his academic career at WCHS.

Heckaman’s impact has been felt beyond the classroom walls and athletic fields as well, as he has taken advantage of opportunities to serve serving others in the community through projects for Habitat for Humanity, Kosciusko County Fairground cleanup, as well as visits to area nursing homes.

Heckaman, who intends to major in Criminal Justice at Ancilla, will join three former WCHS Tiger Baseball players on the Ancilla roster.  The Chargers, coached by Joe Yonto, compete in the Michigan Junior College Athletic Association and the National Junior College Athletic Association.
