Hoosier Hysteria hits the hardwood tonight with the start of sectional play.

The 104th edition of the boys basketball state tournament begins in earnest at 64 sectional sites statewide.

Area teams will be competing in sectional action at Elkhart, Wawasee, Culver and Hamilton.

Warsaw will begin defense of its sectional title at historic North Side Gym tonight in the Class 4-A Elkhart Central Sectional. The Tigers face Northern Lakes Conference foe Goshen at approximately 7:30 p.m. in a first-round matchup.

The Class 3-A Wawasee Sectional also tips-off tonight with just one game. Whitko faces West Noble in Syracuse at 7:30 p.m. Defending champion Tippecanoe Valley and sectional favorite and No. 5 NorthWood begin postseason play with games Wednesday night at Wawasee.

Two games are on the docket tonight for the Class 1-A Culver Sectional. Triton, which has won six straight sectional titles and was state runner-up a year ago, drew a bye and will play in a semifinal game Friday versus the winner of tonight’s Culver-LaCrosse contest.

Lakeland Christian Academy begins its second state tournament as a member of the IHSAA tonight at Hamilton. The Cougars, who won their final two regular-season games, face Lakewood Park at 7 p.m.

Sectional championship games are scheduled for Saturday, March 8. Four-team regionals are Saturday, March 15 with semi states on Saturday, March 22. The State Finals will be contest on Saturday, March 29 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
