Jo Ann Houser, 83, of Syracuse, Ind., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at her residence.

She was born on Feb. 21, 1930 in Indianapolis, Ind., to Worth and Goldie (Derek) Smith. On June 30, 1950, she married Robert E. Houser who preceded her in death.

She retired from Key Bank in 1995. She was a longtime member of the Syracuse American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

Jo Ann is survived by her son: Robert J. (Pam) Houser Sr., Syracuse, Ind.; three grandchildren: Angela (Jason) Pearson, Edgerton, Ohio; Teresa Houser, Syracuse; and Robert J. (Elizabeth) Houser Jr., Fort Wayne, Ind.; one step-granddaughter: Beth Howatt, Syracuse, Ind.; seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded by her husband and one son, Phil.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Eastlund Funeral Home with a Ladies Auxiliary service at 5:45 p.m. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, 2 at the Eastlund Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Cox officiating. Burial will follow at the Syracuse Cemetery.
