Martha F. (Schaus) Curless, 89, of rural Wabash, Ind., died at 11:45 a.m., Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at Wellbrooke of Wabash.
She was born July 28, 1924, in Evansville, Ind., to George and Hazel (Wilson) Deibler. Martha first married Orville ‘Bud’ Schaus in Evansville, on Aug. 1, 1942; he preceded her in death. She then married Jack Curless in Lincolnville, Ind., on Dec. 31, 1981; he preceded her in death.
She worked at the Wabash County Hospital for 17 years. Martha loved watching the Chicago Cubs, Indiana University Basketball, golf and tennis on television. She also enjoyed her kids and grandkids.
She is survived by four daughters: Linda Conner, Reynolds, Ind.; Cathy (Robert) Schmalzried of Wabash; Nancy (Jan) Blocher, North Manchester, Ind.; Ruth (Tim) Ranck, Wabash; two stepdaughters: Ellen (Robert) Ogle, New Haven, Ind.; Marlene Quinn of Urbana, 16 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren; and her brother: Dan (Sondra) Deibler, Chesapeake, Va.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at Grandstaff-Hentgen, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash. Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mississinewa Cemetery, Somerset.
