Two fifth graders in Dina Coverstone’s class took top places at Syracuse Elementary School spelling bee held last week. In first place was Isabelle Brunner and runner-up was Jace Mishler.

Brunner will head to the county spelling bee to complete against other area winners at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, at Lakeview Middle School in Warsaw.
