maishRoma Jean Maish, 82, of Leesburg, Ind., and Palm City, Fla., passed away Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, in Grace Village Health Care, Winona Lake, Ind.

She was born Sept. 16, 1931, in Swayzee, Ind., the daughter of Virgil and Ada (Ammon) Gowin. Roma’s husband of 44 years, Robert D. Maish, preceded her in death.

Roma was a regular attendee of Warsaw Community Church and Palm City Presbyterian Church. She liked to spend time with her family, travel and play golf, but she was best known for her love of cooking and fondness for card games. Her legacy is preserved by the endowment she and Bob established to create and perpetually maintain “The Gardens of Central Park” in Warsaw, Ind.

She is survived by her daughters: Dana (John) Pritchett of Powell, Ohio; Kimberly (Denny) Fuller, Leesburg, Ind.; grandchildren: Jed (Melissa) Pritchett, Riley Fuller, Jordan Fuller, Kelly (Joseph) Pritchett Ewing and Griffin (Caitlin) Fuller; great-grandchildren: Clark Ewing, Taylor Pritchett and Louise Ewing; and many other dear family members.

She was preceded by her husband, a son: Jerry Bruce Gast; and siblings: Wilma Gowin, Vivian Gowin Lord, Mary Alice Gowin Lawshe, Annabelle Gowin, Louise Gowin Brown and Janice Gowin Fawley.

Her family will hold a celebration of Roma’s life at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.
