“Pilates is a mainstay in the fitness world of metropolitan cities, but it is relatively new to our area,” stated studio owner Deb Collier.
The Pilates Method is a revolutionary concept designed to develop the body as a whole. This mind-body fitness approach lets you achieve flexibility, strength and muscle balance as it emphasizes control, for long, lean muscles.
“It is an extremely versatile exercise system that can be modified to accommodate a range of ability levels from beginners to advanced. Mary Beth customizes sessions so the clients have a workout that is designed for their capabilities,” stated Collier. The sessions utilize the Reformer and Wunda Chair.
Symbionics owner and operator, Mary Beth Clark, is a Physical Mind Institute certified Pilates Instructor. She has studied extensively with master Pilates trainers in Toronto, Canada and in numerous American cities over the last 13 years. She regularly attends workshops to provide her clients with the latest advances in the Pilates Method.
The studio will be holding demonstrations from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18.
Collier stated, “This will be an opportunity for people to meet Mary Beth, see how the Reformer works, and what Pilates has to offer them.” Sessions are offered at Debra Collier’s School of Dance on Thursday mornings and afternoons.
